Poor kid. You certainly don't go to these places expecting your life to change for ever because of a rollercoaster!

NS

I'm just conscious of having ALL my weight hanging on a bit that basically is attached to hinge! Don't weigh as much as I used to but still makes me nervous.

Kraken is still my fave at Seaworld although I understand they have another planned, the Mako which may be even better than Kraken?

I'm normally fine with rollercoasters but dangling on the bit that moves like Air scares me silly.

Worse still was Manta at Seaworld in Orlando which is the same riding position as Air but MUCH bigger.

Went on that once and was convinced I was going to die. Kids loved it though..

God help the poor Kids who were Injured, this is a very rare occurrence.

I have always been too chicken to get on anything like that.

Re: Alton Towers rollercoaster crash
Last time I went there Air broke down while we were on it, so hanging upside down for an hour and then the cable car broke down while we were at the highest part of it swinging around a few hundred feet up.

That was the girls fucked after that, though didn't stop me and my mate steaming onto a few more rides.

Oblivion is the bollocks.

I love alton towers, love the thrill of the rides but more importantly love the gorgeous scenery, it's a lovely part if the world. Always take a young bird up there a couple of times a year, get a nice bnb, sorted

Alton Towers is in Stoke.

Why would you want to go there?

Re: Alton Towers rollercoaster crash
It's actually such a shame... Went to Alton Towers in October for fright nights and this ride is hands down the best rollercoaster in the country. Yes it does break down a lot however which raises eyebrows over the safety, but how the fuck did that crash even happen? How did the "test" carriage even end up getting stuck in the first place? But more importantly SURELY its down to human error when they sent a carriage full of 16 people out before the test carriage had come back? And even so this ride is essentially two parts, with a break in the middle before going up a vertical lift hill. Why did no one spot that a carriage had fucking stopped dead with all the cameras they have there?

Re: Alton Towers rollercoaster crash
I don't know if there's anything in it statistically, but I always trust the big operators over in the States like Disney and Universal more than the relatively shoestring operations here.

Alton Towers always looks run down and tatty compared with American parks whenever I've been there. Suggests to me that ride safety and maintenance may also not be entirely up to scratch.

Yeh they never feel that safe as you say. The more popular and outrageous they get the more accidents are likeky.

Amen, Rylan.

Nearly fell out of one at Hayling Island when I was a nipper, the safety bar came up. Luckily my Dad was in the front so could hold us down.

FUCK THE THINGS.

Theme parks and fair rides bar the dodgems are not for me!
Can't see the point in queing for hours and paying stupid money to spend 3 mins making yourself feel sick whilst risking injury.

Maybe for kids but I was never into it even then.
